Northstar Digital Literacy is an online tool that helps users learn the basic skills needed to use a computer and the internet in daily life, employment, and higher education. Dorcas Carey Public Library is offering this service free of charge. Employers can use it to evaluate and improve their employees' tech skills. Job seekers who need to improve their digital literacy may find it invaluable. And anyone who would simply like to learn the basics of the internet, tablets, and smartphones will find it useful. The Mystery at the Drake: The Exploration of a Seance Presentation

Thomas Dowling will present:  The Mystery at the Drake (The Exploration of a Séance) at 6 p.m. at the library.  Explore the hauntings of the Drake Hotel, the 2nd most haunted building in Illinois and learn about the history of seances. The experience will conclude with a “mock” séance.   You will learn about the history of seances, why Houdini attended seances, the meaning and demonstration of the bell, book and candle séance.  Educational & fun audience participation!
